Picking your venue can be a tough one , especially if you aren’t limiting it to specific location, there are so many fabulous venues in the country that it can be a tough call. For us we had picked our venue years ago, nearly from the time we got engaged.. As our 1st date was a day out in Galway, going out to Furbo and Salthill , we had wanted a Galway wedding and the Galway Bay Hotel just stood out for us. I suppose brides and grooms these days are often swayed by the most modern hotels, the fancy chandeliers and the new age décor. The most important things on your wedding day will be service, quality of food, qualty of accomodation for your guests and of course helpful staff. So when you start looking make a short list of the hotels you like. Maybe at the weekends have your lunch out there, go on a Sunday when they are busy and see how well they cope under pressure and how good the food is. Deal with staff to see how good they are. When you have it narrowed down book an overnight and check out their rooms and breakfast. It really helps wth deciding.
We tried to be objective and look properly when we started planning and no matter which hotel we visited , we kept coming back to the Galway Bay. We visited some very new trendy hotels who ticked the boxes with trimmings but staff weren’t as interested as you would hope they would be !I think as a bride your heart falls in love with your dream venue and you can imagine the day in that setting and nothing can break that vision. So you will know when you’ve found THE ONE ( bit like finding your other half !)
I love the intimate feeling in the Galway Bay Hotel, the function rooms are almost regal and the silver candleaberas set the tone beautifully. For us it is perfect and walking on to the balcony to look across the sea is just the icing on the cake . Just over a year to go !
